This well has been drilled at a depth of 50 metres thanks to the funds made available by our consolidated partner, the Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza, based in Rocca Canavese(TO). The well is operated by a hand pump for due maintenance and the water delivery is very satisfactory.
On June 17th 2011, the bishop of the Tigray Region personally attended the opening ceremony of this water well.
before the drilling of this water well the prisoners receive one litre of water a day to cover all their personal needs of washing and drinking.
The Adigrat jail hosts 1300 male prisoners and 45 women. All prisoners are involved in working activities and a carpentry workshop, inside the jail, carpets production and kitchen activities are carried out at the facility.
