Thanks to the financial support of Elena Pizzighello, Mario Zorzetto & their friends, Scuola Infanzia WALT DISNEY Ist. Compr. di Piombino Dese, the Butterfly Foundation has opened the Kilet water well in the Tsaeda Emba province, Tigray Region, Ethiopia, after completing the required rehabilitation works already started.
This well has been dry for a long time and is located one hundred metres from a primary school and thirty metres from a health care post. Five hundred seventy-two people benefit from it, and the well is dedicated to the GRUPPO ALPINI DI PIOMBINO DESE.
The project involved installing new piping to reach the updated water level, providing a new hand-operated pump, and installing fencing to guarantee safe water collection.
The official opening took place on the 12th of March, 2025.
