Following a two-year-long war in the Tigray Region, which produced several hundred thousand casualties and a severe drought, the local people are starving and in desperate need of water.
The Butterfly Foundation has operated in this area for over twenty years and continues to work to bring water to dry wells.
Thanks to the generosity of Mrs Marina Beltrametti, fresh, potable water will soon be made available at the water well in the compound of Tsehafi Wordi Primary School.
The well is dedicated to the memory of her son, Luca Omar, who passed away some time ago, and it will benefit 726 students and their families.
The well will be operational in a month, while the official opening will be next autumn.
