The Butterfly Foundation is ready to continue its mission to bring water to remote areas of the Tigray Region after the recent war destroyed several water points, forcing people to travel long distances to fetch clean, potable water.
Thanks to the financial support of Andrea and Chiara Landi, relatives, friends, and supporters of the Lucchese football team, a fundraising campaign is underway to rehabilitate the water well at Azzera school in the village of Debre Mihret, in memory of Nicola Landi, who passed away last August 2025.
The beneficiaries will be 990 students plus their families.
The project cost includes new piping, fencing, and a new pump, plus the planned training for its operation. is €. 4.800.
The official opening of this water well is scheduled for early February 2027.
