Alakalo water well

As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established between  Butterfly Charity Foundation and ADCS, ( Catholic Association of Adigrat), several projects water-related, are presently under progress in the Tigray region, North of the country at the border with Eritrea.

The above, following the recent severe drought, the worst since over the last 30 years.

A water well has been rehabilitated in the village of ALAKALO, at  Irob district in Tigray region, Ethiopia.  This project has been funded by  GIANPAOLO IMPIGNATIELLO, his wife ALESSANDRA BENVENUTO  and their friends,    and consists of the rehabilitation of old dry water well. New extended pipes to reach an adequate depth, a  brand new pump, fencing and training of a  Water and Sanitation committee has been secured as well in accordance with running practice.

The official opening of the well, securing clean water to some  250 beneficiaries, took place on  April  29th 2017.
