The long war that lasted from 2020 to 2022 caused over 600,000 casualties in the Region of Tigray, Ethiopia, traumas, disabilities, and over one million displaced people, primarily women and girls who were used as war weapons, and subject to violence and sexual abuses. Any activities run by women’s cooperatives have entirely disappeared in Tigray, and these women are now in desperate conditions, with no work other than managing their families.
During our last trip, we received several requests for financial support from these women who were willing to resume their activities to produce a minimum income.
Our Foundation decided to seek funds to support a cooperative of 20 women in the village of Haylom, serving 160 direct beneficiaries and a total of approximately 4,000 beneficiaries.
The requested amount of €. 31.200 will enable the daily production of bread to be sold at the local market, thanks to the purchase of the required raw material for the first six months of production and all required machinery, such as an oven, mixer, and tools.

We hope this project will succeed as we intend to replicate it in other areas of the Tigray Region.
