Water availability is a major problem for communities living in remote areas of Ethiopia’s Tigray Region. Several hand-operated water wells are dry due to the area’s climatic conditions, which have lowered the groundwater level. Women are obliged to walk long distances to fetch polluted water from ponds and rivers, and children are often victims of diseases caused by it.
We express our gratitude to Loredana Rasile & Massimo Silvestri for dedicating the rehabilitation of the Zban Asefe water well in memory of their daughter, Flaminia, who recently passed away.
The beneficiaries of this gift are 985 students at the primary school in Zban Asfe.
The official opening of this well is scheduled for next October 2026.
